Lakeland Montessori is looking for qualified people to work as substitutes in our age 3-6 classrooms. If you are interested in working as a substitute, please email Josie Zinninger. Substitutes pay rates are equivalent to the Polk County School Board substitute pay rates.

Teachers' Assistant & Intern Openings

Applications and resumés are currently being accepted for our applicant pool for future openings. Applications will be placed into a pool for positions that become available. Positions available for application are Assistant Director, age 3-6, 6-9 and 9-12 multiage classroom teachers, interns, and assistant teacher positions (see requirements below). Grade K-5 teaching salaries and benefits are highly competitive with the Polk County School District as we adopt the PCSB salary schedule for grade K-5 teaching positions. Current Polk County employees are not required to resign from the school district's employment.

All applicants for the Assistant Director position must have Montessori certification from a MACTE accredited institution and at least five years of teaching experience in a Montessori school. For more information, please email a resume to Josie Zinninger.

All teaching applicants for grades Kindergarten and up must have at least a bachelor's degree. For those grade K-5 candidates that do not have Florida State Teacher’s Certification, application must be made for a State of Florida Temporary Educator’s Certificate. The minumum requirement for interns and teaching assistants is a high school diploma.

For the classroom teaching positions, teachers will either possess a Montessori certification credential or receive training through a MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) approved Montessori teacher training program. MACTE approved Montessori certification is internationally recognized and can be used to qualify for Montessori teaching positions around the globe. Elementary Montessori certification also completes most of the requirements towards a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.
